Once complete, Emmons Place Senior Housing will add more than 70,000 sf of affordable senior housing to Portland’s historic Alphabet District. The project consists of an adaptive reuse renovation of a historic three-story structure with new construction of two buildings with wood framing over post-tensioned concrete slabs. The six- and five-story buildings, designed by Carleton Hart Architecture, flank the existing building. After supporting the existing structure, micro piles were installed to tie-in the building to a reinforced and seismically sound foundation. The project adds 148 units with resident services and is aiming to achieve Earth Advantage Certification. The client’s 30% DMWESB utilization goal is at 40.3%.
