Stephanie Fowler Student Center Renovation and Addition

The 40,000 sf modernization of the Stephanie Fowler Student Center required an 6,000 sf addition on third level and 22,000 sf renovation of common and office spaces. Designed to be the “heart of campus,” the updated student center features enhanced meeting and activity spaces, outdoor gathering spots, and improved accessibility features. This hybrid mass timber building features exposed mass timber floors, beams, and columns.

One project challenge was adding an ADA compliant elevator to the existing structure. To minimize cost and increase efficiency, the elevator was added to the exterior of the facility, allowing the extra space to be committed to a dining hall, offices, reception, and meeting rooms. The project remained under construction on an occupied campus with careful safety and logistics plans.
