Bremik Construction is proud to continue its successful partnership with Home Forward on the Troutdale Affordable Housing project, which is currently under construction. This collaboration represents a shared commitment to building vibrant, inclusive communities and addressing the urgent need for affordable housing in the region.
The Home Forward Troutdale Affordable Housing Project
Located in Troutdale, Oregon, the development is designed to provide high-quality, affordable homes for individuals and families, fostering stability and opportunity for its future residents. With 85 thoughtfully designed units spread across three 3-story structures, the project reflects Home Forward’s vision of fostering resilience and equity while addressing the region’s housing challenges. The units include studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom configurations, with onsite amenities such as laundry facilities, bike storage, a large play structure, a community room, a BBQ pavilion, and a community garden. The landscaping will also repurpose approximately thirty large boulders excavated from the site, and local artists will contribute culturally significant art and sculptures to enrich the space.

As of January, Bremik’s teams have completed the structural concrete phase and are midway through framing. According to Iris O’Neal, Bremik’s Project Manager, “MEPF teams are actively roughing-in across two of the three buildings, and the siding crew has mobilized to install WRB and prepare window openings. Roofing crews should begin before the end of the month”. O’Neal, who oversees the project’s overall management, shared that the development is on track to be completed in December 2025.
Tygh Colton, Bremik’s Preconstruction Manager, reflected on his role in the project’s early stages: “I helped program the construction scope, schedule, and budget from concept design to groundbreaking before handing it off to the construction team,” he explained. He highlighted unique challenges of the site, including its slope, which required creative solutions like extensive retaining wall systems, ADA access considerations, and stormwater management.

A Collaborative Vision
This project exemplifies what’s possible when organizations unite with a clear purpose. “The team at Home Forward has been superb to work with; they have decades of experience working on housing projects and it shows”, O’Neal noted. “Our team is grateful that Home Forward entrusted us with bringing these new homes to the Troutdale community.”
Home Forward, the housing authority for Multnomah County, Oregon, provides affordable housing and support services to low-income individuals and families. It manages public housing, administers housing choice vouchers (Section 8), and develops affordable housing communities. The organization also partners with local agencies to offer programs that help residents achieve stability, financial independence, and long-term success.
The Home Forward Troutdale project is the second collaboration between Bremik Construction and Home Forward. Together, the two organizations have completed:
- Hattie Redmond Apartments: This North Portland development, completed in 2023, provides 60 affordable units, prioritizing survivors of domestic violence. It has become a cornerstone of stability and hope for its residents.

They are also actively working on another impactful project:
- Gresham Civic Station: Currently in pre-construction, this project is set to bring much-needed affordable housing to Gresham, Oregon, continuing the tradition of transformative community investment.
Reflecting on this relationship, O’Neal remarked, “We look forward to growing our relationship further as we work toward the finish line on the Troutdale project and are eager for the opportunity to build more housing projects with Home Forward in the future”.
Looking Ahead
As construction progresses on the Home Forward Troutdale development, Bremik Construction remains steadfast in its mission to build not just structures but stronger communities. The team understands the critical need for housing in Oregon and leverages its experience, partnering with development and design firms, to bring more affordable units to the State. “With affordable housing being in shortage, it’s important that we leverage our experience to help our clients maximize every precious dollar so they can deliver the most living units possible”, shared Colton.
For O’Neal, the personal impact of these projects is profound: “As a PM with a background in housing, it always feels good to build homes for people. We are constructing a place where meals will be enjoyed, children will play, gardens will grow, and memories will be made. It is inspiring to know that these 85 units will serve thousands of people in the Troutdale community for decades to come”.
Bremik’s ongoing partnership with Home Forward reflects a shared vision for equitable, sustainable housing solutions. Together, they continue to address the housing crisis by creating vibrant, cohesive communities that foster economic stability and growth.
