Students attended classes in the existing 57-year-old elementary school as we built them a new 72,000 sf, two-story facility. We overcame the challenges from working around the operational campus with detailed safety and logistics plans. The tilt-up, concrete, and steel structure includes 24 classrooms with common and collaboration spaces, a media center, cafeteria, covered outdoor play area, gymnasium, and parking. Logistical challenges due to working around an operational campus.

Working with the district and design team, Trevor discovered cost savings options totaling $1,337,000 at Design Development and an additional $1,091,000 at 50% Construction Documents. Suggested savings included modifying a tilt panel attachment method ($52,500), changing the equipment for back-up electrical ($65,000), switching the brand of air handler units ($202,000), and changing mechanical screening material ($18,000). The district selected cost reduction options and the savings was differed to voluntary upgrades.
