Mt. Scott Community Center Seismic Retrofit and Expansion Project

The community center, which occupies the north portion of Mt. Scott Park, consists of buildings dating from the 1920s through the 1990s. The project expansion and upgrade project will bring the center to seismic compliance, improve ADA accessibility, and expand recreational programming.

The scope includes a partial demolition of 20,000 sf of the existing structure and renovation of 40,000 sf renovation of the remaining space. Areas to be demolished included the original bathhouse, auditorium, offices, and fitness areas while the pool, gym, and underground roller rink will remain.

The project also includes a two-story, 31,000 sf new addition for preschool classrooms, multipurpose classroom spaces, event center, kitchen, fitness area, administrative office, and support spaces.

Site improvements will include new entry plazas at building’s east and west main entrances, a new 30-space parking lot, new landscaping at existing parking lot area, right-of-way dedication, and necessary street improvements to meet current city standards.
