Bremik Construction teamed with BRIC Architecture to deliver the multi-phased McKay High School, which included an addition of two wings, a new CTE classroom, and renovation to the existing administrative building.
The 95,000 sf addition provided a new library and media center, gym and weight rooms, four general and 11 science classrooms, black box theater, performing arts and music spaces, college career center, and district server room. A 12,700 sf pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) provides CTE space for the culinary arts, engineering, agricultural, and science programs. The scope also included a 9,000 sf renovation and re-purposing of a 23,000 sf building to reconfigure offices and athletic rooms.
A secure vestibule was added along with additional safety and alarm systems. The elevator, plumbing, and HVAC were replaced and site upgrades expanded fire access, student drop-off, bus loading lanes, and pedestrian sidewalks. The removal of portable classrooms made way for outdoor common spaces and restoration of grounds landscaping.
