Where are you from and what brought you to Portland?
I’m originally from Baker City in Eastern Oregon and my degree in Construction Engineering Management brought me to Portland.

What is your favorite thing about Portland?
Its vibrant downtown and easy access to the outdoors.

What made you want to get into construction?
In college I started in Civil Engineering and quickly learned I liked the building process over the design process, so easily made the switch to Construction Engineering Management.

Tell us about starting Bremik.
It was scary. I could go so many different directions with this answer. After working with Mike for over 14 years I knew I wanted to build a business with him. Our five-year vision was to do $8 million and we surpassed that in the second year and have not looked back since.

What is your favorite Bremik project and why?
White Stag Block. We were a young firm without the human capital we needed to start the project, so it forced us to grow ahead of our plans. To date, it is still our most challenging project we have ever undertaken.

What is the last book you read?
Creativity, Inc. I highly recommend it.

What is the coolest place you have ever visited?
Dubrovnik, Croatia.

What do you want to see for Bremik before you retire?
That we have developed a collaborative team of high achievers who enjoy each other as much as they do their work. Bremik is a culture that is self-sustaining.

What inspires you when it comes to work?
Helping others do what they didn’t think they could do.

When people hear Bremik, what do you want them to think?
They are the best contractor in Oregon.

What else should people know about you?
While I love the vibrancy of Portland and the challenges of building a company, my oasis is a ridgetop in the wilderness of Eastern Oregon.
