Introduction
At Bremik, we believe that nurturing young talent is one of the most impactful investments we can make in our company and our industry. Our internship program isn’t just about ticking a box; it’s about shaping the next generation of innovators, leaders, and professionals. Each year, we welcome a group of bright, motivated students into our offices and out on job sites, offering real-world experience, hands-on learning, and a front-row seat into our company culture.
What Makes Our Internship Program Unique
Our internship program is designed to go beyond coffee runs and basic tasks. Interns at Bremik are immersed in meaningful projects, collaborating with experienced professionals, subs, and vendors. “We encourage risk-taking and understand that mistakes made by our interns are part of the learning process. We can correct or fix anything they don’t perform to our standard,” says Grant Eldridge, Project Manager and Internship Program Manager. “Beyond the real-world engagement we offer, we also focus on how each intern can build their brand, making them more marketable in the industry after graduation.”
Key features of our program include:
- Mentorship & Guidance: All interns work as a cohort but also have their mentor to help them navigate their role and grow their skills.
- Workshops & Learning Sessions: We host sessions with staff outside of their direct mentors, allowing them to gain exposure to various perspectives and meet other colleagues within the company.
- Cross-Functional Exposure: Interns have opportunities to collaborate across departments, gaining a broader understanding of how the company operates.
- Feedback Culture: Regular performance check-ins and feedback loops help interns track their progress and reflect on their growth.
- End of Summer Presentation: Interns give a presentation on a topic of their choice to the entire company.
A Day in the Life of an Intern
No two days are the same. One of this year’s interns, Jacob Zuniga, is attending school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, studying construction management. “I’m most impressed with the team at Bremik and how well they work together,” said Zuniga. Interns might spend the morning in a team stand-up meeting, working with safety teams, processing purchase orders, submitting RFIs, closeout documentation, punch lists, or subcontractor coordination. “We ensure interns are not just learning, but actively engaging and contributing to the team’s success,” says Eldridge.
From Intern to Full-Time Employee
Many of our former interns have gone on to join Bremik full-time. Spencer Bradley, our current CEO, started with Bremik as an intern. “We see the internship as a pipeline for future talent for Bremik and the growth of our industry,” says Eldridge. “It’s a chance for us to get to know prospective team members and for them to experience our work environment firsthand. For interns, it’s more than a summer job; it’s a foot in the door.”
What Interns Say About the Program
“I want to have my own construction company someday,” says Zuniga. “I’m excited to learn, and my project team has made a big impression on me. They are such a great team. What I’m learning this summer, I’ll be able to apply throughout my career.”
At Bremik, internships aren’t an afterthought; they’re an essential part of how we grow and evolve. By investing in interns today, we’re building the foundation for tomorrow’s success.
