Bremik is honored to announce that two of our employees are being recognized with DJC’s Women of Vision Award. Women of Vision is the region’s preeminent recognition and educational program that supports the women who are shaping the built environment with their technical skill, leadership, mentoring, community involvement and the creation of opportunities for the future generation of women in the industries. Sarah Roberts, General Foreman, and Kaitlin Schauer, Safety Manager, have been selected as this year’s 2024 Women of Vision Honorees.

Sarah was nominated by Damien Koehler, Director of Field Operations, for her exemplary work on and off the field. Sarah started at Bremik as a 1st term apprentice carpenter. Since then, she has worked her way up from Apprentice to Journey-level Carpenter to Foreman to General Foreman. She runs the field side of our self-perform department that focus on Doors/Frames/Hardware & Millwork install. As General Foreman, she has been instrumental in leading and mentoring our carpenters. She has been especially impactful in leading our next group of female carpenters- both by example and by the time, care, and passion she puts into each person. This is shown outside of the field where she is involved with numerous women focused organizations in the construction industry, Sisters in the Brotherhood and Trades Women Build Nations. “One of Sarah’s great strengths is her advocating for other women in construction. Whether through being a union steward, her work with Sisters in the Brotherhood, or supporting the Oregon Tradeswomen, Sarah is a beacon at our company always pushing us to do better,” said Koehler. Thank you for the work you do for our company and the community!

Jake Bishop, Safety Director/Equipment Manager, nominated Kaitlin to be recognized for her continued dedication to Bremik’s Safety Culture. Kaitlin became a full-time Safety Manager in the summer of 2021 while she was still attending Central Washington University. Since starting she has transformed Bremik’s safety culture. She has developed safety programs, led training, provided jobsite support through pre-construction meetings and safety audits, and has analyzed safety data to reduce our companies Total Recordable Incident Rate, Loss Time Incident Rate, and DART rates by over 85%. Outside of Bremik, Kaitlin helps feed those in need at local homeless shelters through the EPIC Program and volunteers time to help clean-up Oregon Coasts with SOLVE Oregon. “Kaitlin’s leadership, knowledge, and experience has elevated the safety standards and expectations required to keep all workers safe on all job sites. In addition, her vision of safety goes beyond the project, with an end goal of protecting all workers and the communities around each project,” said Bishop. Thank you for your dedication to safety and for ensuring all our workers go home safely each day!

We are proud of you both for the continuous work you do for Bremik and the community. You both represent what it means to Be The Best.
