Bremik Construction has long been a trusted partner in Oregon’s education sector, working closely with school districts statewide to enhance learning environments for students, educators, and communities. With comprehensive planning, trusted relationships, and high-quality execution, Bremik continues to support schools through renovations, expansions, and new construction – elevating their safety, accessibility, and functionality.
Elevating Westview High School
One of Bremik’s recent flagship education projects is the transformation of Westview High School in Portland, Oregon, part of the Beaverton School District. This ambitious project included a two-story expansion of the school’s main entrance, featuring a secured vestibule designed to enhance safety and improve traffic flow for the approximately 2,500 students in attendance. The addition also included new administrative offices, a health room, and a bookkeeper’s office, with sky bridges extending to newly built conference rooms on the second floor. The existing administrative spaces were also remodeled to better serve the school’s needs.
Beyond interior upgrades, Westview’s Pride Plaza received substantial improvements to enhance the sport spectator experience. The project included a new concessions building, additional restroom facilities, and new ticket booths. Site improvements also featured retaining walls, new ADA-accessible pathways, and drainage systems to support long-term sustainability.

Overcoming Obstacles
The complexity of the Westview project presented several challenges, from budget constraints to an active campus requiring careful coordination. Trevor DeLuca, Bremik’s Preconstruction Manager and Partner, highlighted the importance of strategic planning to balance cost efficiency with maintaining district standards and expectations. “The district had a tight budget, so we worked through multiple design iterations to find the most cost-effective options while maintaining quality. Also, a typical vestibule project should be able to be completed within the summer window, but due to the complexity of the two-story option they selected, we had to work diligently to put a schedule and logistics plan together that allowed the project to be completed during the school year.”
Working on an active high school campus introduced logistical hurdles, particularly during sporting events and school hours. Dexter Parry, Bremik’s Project Manager, emphasized the need for precise scheduling and communication: “We had to accommodate sporting events and the daily flow of students and staff while ensuring construction stayed on track. Clear signage, safe pathways, and ongoing collaboration with school administrators were critical in making this a smooth process.”
Despite these obstacles, Bremik’s close collaboration with Beaverton School District and project partners ensured a seamless process. “Westview was an incredibly collaborative project. We had great relationships with Arcadis Architecture and the school district, which made all the difference in delivering a high-quality result,” Parry added.

Engaging the Community
As part of Bremik’s commitment to community involvement, the team engaged with Westview High School students interested in the trades by offering project walkthroughs and discussions about careers in construction. Dylan Knight, Bremik’s Superintendent, shared how rewarding it was to involve students in the process: “We set up a career discussion where we walked students through the different phases of design and construction. Seeing their curiosity and excitement grow was really inspiring. It’s great to connect young people with opportunities in the trades.”
Bremik’s work at Westview High School highlights the company’s dedication to creating modern, adaptable educational spaces that will serve students for years to come. One of the most gratifying moments came when students returned from winter break and experienced the newly completed main entrance for the first time. Knight reflected on the moment; “watching over 1,000 students flood through the entrance we had just completed was incredibly rewarding. It was a reminder of why we do this work.”
Expanding Impact Across Oregon
Westview High School is just one example of Bremik’s growing presence in the education sector. The company has successfully delivered multiple school projects across Oregon, demonstrating a strong track record of quality and partnership. Other notable education projects include:
- Canby High School (Canby, OR) – The Canby High School project consisted of a 50,000 sf science and general education wing addition; minor remodel of the fine arts, CTE/ATC, and field buildings; a new, 1,500 sf, pre-engineered field storage building; and the relocation of campus MEP system.
- McKay High School (Salem, OR) – This multi-phased project included a 95,000 sf addition, 12,700 sf new CTE building, and a 9,000 sf renovation. The new facilities will support students studying culinary arts, engineering, and agricultural science, with a new library and media center, 15 additional classrooms, college career center, performing arts space including a black box theatre, choir and band practice spaces, and weight center.
- East Gresham Elementary School (Gresham, OR) – The replacement project included the demolition of the 57-year-old school and construction of a 76,000 sf, two-story facility built with tilt-up concrete and steel. The school includes 24 classrooms, flexible learning spaces, a media center, music room, cafeteria, covered outdoor play area, gymnasium, and parking. Located adjacent to the new school building is a 3,900 sf metal covered outdoor hard surface play area and a 5,000 sf soft surface playground structure.
- City View Charter School (Hillsboro, OR) – The City View Charter School program purchased a 59,900 sf, two-story office building to convert into their new K-8 School campus. The conversion required seismic retrofitting and approximately 40,000 sf of tenant improvements, including over 20 classrooms, a kitchen and recess areas, administrative offices, and a library.
Building the Future
Bremik’s work in the education sector continues to evolve as Oregon school districts plan for future improvements. As part of the 2022 Beaverton School District bond cycle, Bremik is positioned as a key partner for ongoing projects through 2028.
Looking ahead, Bremik intends to support school districts as they secure funding for facility improvements. DeLuca pointed out the cyclical nature of education construction: “K-12 projects will always be a priority for Bremik because they serve such an essential need. Bond-funded projects come in waves, and our goal is to be ready to assist districts whenever the next funding cycle begins.”
Parry echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of long-term partnerships: “There will always be schools in need of upgrades. Our goal is to remain a trusted partner for school districts across the state, ensuring they get the most value out of their projects.”
By staying actively involved in school district partnerships, RFP processes, and bond-funded improvements, Bremik is committed to shaping the future of Oregon’s educational infrastructure. With a proven ability to deliver high-quality, student-focused environments, Bremik Construction is helping schools create spaces where learning can thrive.
