WHEELER, Ore. – On Saturday, July 20th, the Nehalem Bay Health Center Board was joined by Scott Edwards Architects, Klosh Group, Bremik Construction, and community members for the official groundbreaking of the new Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy.

The current Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy (formally the Rinehart Clinic) built in the early 1980s, has outgrown its current building which cannot accommodate an expansion of new services able to reach more patients in Tillamook County. This new 16,000 sf Health Center and Pharmacy will double the size of the existing facility creating more exam rooms, expanding the pharmacy, and providing the space necessary to offer additional medical care like dental, pediatric, geriatrics medicine, and other specialty healthcare services benefiting the community.

The scope of work includes a wood framed building, with pre-engineered wood trusses, vinyl windows, laminate composite siding, curtainwall and storefront assemblies, asphalt shingle roof and built-up roofing, acoustical and wood ceilings, and new site improvements with new landscaping and a new parking lot.

Local residents will be presented with more health care options, and reduce the need to travel for health care services. The new Health Center and Pharmacy is conveniently located at US Highway 101 and Hospital Road in Wheeler, and will improve access for the rural, coastal community.

Bremik, founded in 2004, has pursued their dedication to developing healthcare facilities that support rural communities through several projects. One Community Health in Hood River, the Virginia Garcia Wellness Center project in Cornelius, and the Virginia Garcia Newberg Clinic project currently underway in Newberg, demonstrate their continued dedication. The new Nehalem Bay Health Center & Pharmacy’s development aligns with their passion of constructing healthcare facilities for remote areas such as the coast.

Bremik put in significant outreach effort in the bidding process and were successfully able to obtain several COBID certified and coastal based subs.

This new Health Center and Pharmacy represents a major upgrade in local health care for Tillamook County, and serves as a place for future growth for the Nehalem Bay Health District.
