Bremik to build new Riverdale Grade School

The passing of the Riverdale School District Bond secured the funding

PORTLAND, Ore. – Nov. 7th, 2008 – With the support of Multnomah County voters for an improved and new school in Riverdale, Bremik Construction has been selected to build and remodel the Riverdale Grade School facilities.

The current plan, with an estimated construction cost of $14M, encompasses the development of a 45,000 square foot state-of-the-art, two-story education facility for grades K-8, including approximately 24 classrooms. The project will incorporate sustainable building practices and is considering LEED certification. Bremik will reuse much of the existing structure and materials in the new building to honor the design of the historic school.

In addition to providing a new education facility, the project will improve child safety, bus routing, parking and parent drop-off areas as well as a central courtyard for outdoor play and environmental learning areas. Preconstruction services are underway with construction scheduled start in late June 2009 and be completed by August 2010.

"We are honored to be working with a project team who is dedicated to designing an outstanding facility for the Riverdale Community" said Brent Parry, president, Bremik Construction. "The project will dramatically improve the learning environment for the children while providing the community with a facility that reflects the strong character and values of the neighborhood."

Bremik brings a multi-layered skill set and over 30 years of experience to the project. Their resume includes several similar school projects and was recently awarded the AIA Craftsmanship Award for the LEED Gold White Stag Block/University of Oregon Portland Center historic renovation. Other notable historic renovations include; the Freimann Building, home to Bonneville Environmental Foundation, the Smith Block for RV Kuhns and Associates and the Ladd Carriage House.
